What this website collects, described exactly as the code does it. The site is open source, so everything described here can be checked in axross/btnopen.com.
This website runs analytics that rests on your permission, and collects error information whether or not you gave it.
Collected with your permission
- The URL of the page you viewed
- Clicks on the links to GitHub, LinkedIn, and X
- URL query parameters used to manage blog posts (never used in ordinary reading)
Mixpanel does the collecting. Unrelated clicks and scrolling are not observed, and sessions are not recorded. Your browser's Do Not Track setting is honoured.
Until you allow it, the Mixpanel code itself is never loaded, and not a single HTTP request is sent.
Running whether or not you allow it
When an error occurs, Sentry collects and records the following, and the site is improved from what it records.
- Your IP address and user information
- HTTP request and response headers
- URL query parameters
- Stack-frame variables
Cookies and request and response bodies are not recorded.
Only in a session where an error occurred, how the screen changed is recorded, so the bug can be investigated and reproduced. In ordinary use, with no error, no such recording is made at all — whichever way you answered.
When you leave a comment
Clerk brokers your GitHub sign-in. Four things are recorded alongside the comment itself: your Clerk user ID, display name, GitHub username, and avatar image URL. No email address is stored.
Cookies
As its own cookies, this website stores the display language you chose, your analytics permission, and a CSRF token for posting a comment.
